WageScape FAQ

Q: Where does the data come from?

A: At WageScape, we pride ourselves on providing comprehensive and up-to-date job market data. Our data is sourced from millions of pages across the job ecosystem, including both corporate and individual indicators. By scanning the internet and aggregating information from publicly available job listings, we compile a vast dataset that represents the entire job market. We then employ patented AI technology to normalize the collected data, ensuring standardized and consistent information. This normalization process enables us to generate world-class analysis and insights. Our advanced AI algorithms analyze the data, extracting valuable trends and patterns that inform strategic decision-making.

Q: What is the intended purpose of this tool?

A: WageScape is designed to provide real-time information on the job market. In today’s dynamic labor market, it offers valuable insights into current trends and conditions for any job in any market. It is important to note that WageScape is not intended as a substitute for traditional benchmarking tools but rather as a complementary resource to enhance your understanding of the job market.

Q: How often does the data get updated?

A:We update our dataset on a daily basis, implementing a day lag for processing and troubleshooting. This regular update cycle allows us to capture the dynamic nature of the job market, ensuring that our users have access to the most current and reliable information available.

Q: Why am I unable to find information on certain job titles?

A: The WageScape Starter version, available for free to WorldatWork members, includes job data from three specific job families across all industries: Human Resources, Supply Chain, and Finance. As a result, information on job titles outside of these categories may not be available in the free version. Also, not all companies use the same taxonomy.  For example, the job title of Member Services Representative is more commonly used than Member Representative.  Therefore, Member Services Representative is used in our taxonomy of job titles.

Our full subscription offers comprehensive coverage of all job titles across industries in the United States. For more details on the features and coverage of the full version of WageScape, including information on the 15% discount offered to WorldatWork members, please contact us.

Q: Does WageScape have international data?

A: Currently, WageScape primarily focuses on providing data for the United States. However, as a company, we have an extensive data collection network covering over 65 countries. We are actively working on expanding our coverage, and we plan to launch versions of WageScape for Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK by the end of this year. Stay tuned for updates on our international data offerings.

Q: Is it possible to view the job summary?

A: Currently, job summaries are not available. However, we collect the complete job description text and have it accessible in raw data format. We have plans to incorporate job summaries into WageScape in the near future. This feature will only be available for full subscription users.

Q: How are job titles defined?

A: We utilize our proprietary job taxonomy to define job titles. The job titles are determined by searching for the best match available. In situations where an exact title match is not found, our algorithm generates the closest match based on the job attributes found within the job description.

Q: How is the salary information obtained?

A: Our salary information is obtained through a proprietary method that takes into account more than just job postings with published rates. We capture data by leveraging the inclusion of salary range search criteria in job postings, which provides insight into advertised salary expectations. It’s important to note that the information we provide reflects the advertised salaries rather than the final agreements reached at the time of hiring. While our algorithm may not offer 100% accuracy for individual job postings, when analyzed collectively, as part of a representative sample,  the results provide reliable insights into salary trends within specific ranges.
